Lamprianidou

Angela Lamprianidou is a Greek choreographer and performer with German and Spanish roots, based in Berlin. Her work has grown out of a life between cultures, disciplines and places, with fifteen years spent living and working in Barcelona and an artistic practice that moves between choreography, performance, language, the body and human encounter.

She studied Choreography and New Techniques of Interpretation at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, receiving a Matrícula de Honor in Composition, Staging and Dance History. She also studied Dentistry at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, completing her State Examination. Yoga and the study of the body have been a continuous part of her practice.

Lamprianidou’s choreographic work is interested in what happens when people meet: what we reveal, what we hide, how we recognise one another and how our bodies change in relation to others. Her works move between spoken language and movement, intimacy and humour, structure and unpredictability. There is often a kind of conspiracy at work — a subtle shifting of perspectives, expectations and relationships that draws performers and audiences into the same space of encounter.

Her works include SIT, Alihop, Back to Emotion, Tanz hin Tanz her and the Appointment series, among others. They have been presented internationally in Barcelona, Berlin, Prague, Israel, Norway, Switzerland and Athens. She received the Dansa Més a Prop award for SIT, was a finalist at the No Ballet International Choreography Competition in Ludwigshafen and won the Baltic Movement Contest in Gdańsk for Charles and the Others, created in collaboration with Mireia de Querol.

As a performer, she has worked with Felix Ruckert, Roger Bernat, Carol Brown, Tomeu Vergés, Santiago Sempere, Alexandra Rauh and Yago Pericot, among others. Her teaching has taken her to the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, the Indian Art Centre in Bangalore, Tatwerk, Marameo and IKSK in Berlin and to artistic contexts in Tromsø, Norway, among others.

Teaching and performing have always been closely connected in her work. She teaches choreography, performance, movement and embodied practices, bringing together her experience of dance with anatomy, yoga and her knowledge of the human body.

In 2019, she founded YOU ARE THE POINT, a practice that grew naturally from this intersection. The jaw became a particular point of departure for her research: a place where physical tension, emotional patterns, pressure, expression and the possibility of release meet.

The first feeling of letting go was not an idea. It was a physical experience.

To let go can hurt. It can feel unfamiliar. We often hold on long after we no longer need to. The jaw knows this very well.

Through Jaw & Body Release, Lamprianidou works with movement, touch, breath, awareness and anatomical knowledge to explore what happens when habitual holding begins to soften. The practice opens a space for greater freedom, presence and connection — towards letting go and returning to one's own essence.

For Lamprianidou, letting go is not about losing control. It is about discovering what becomes possible when control is no longer needed.

Her artistic practice and YOU ARE THE POINT belong to the same ongoing research. Here, art, the body and health meet — not as separate disciplines, but as different ways of approaching transformation, presence and healing.

Based in Berlin and working internationally, Lamprianidou continues to develop this research through choreography, performance, teaching and YOU ARE THE POINT.
